I interviewed with a nationally known non-profit wildlife organization in Reston, Virginia. I am just out of college, with a Master's degree and I am from the midwest, so I don't know what salary range I should be looking for. They asked me in the first interview, and I just guessed, but I think I may have been off. I want a decent living in northern Virginia. What should I ask for?|||Here are two links that may be helpful to you. The first is to a free salary survey at PayScale.com: http://www.payscale.com/?src=yahooA The survey provides accurate salary data for your specific position, taking factors such as location, qualifications, and experience into consideration.
The second is to PayScale's cost of living calculator: http://www.payscale.com/cost-of-living-c鈥?/a> you can use the calculator to compare the cost of living in Virginia with your current location, and to evaluate how your standard of living might be affected by the salary you earn there.
Hope that helps,

However, there is no cheap way to make a decent living in northern Virginia. $50,000 is chump change for someone with a Master's degree. I would say a minimum of $65,000 just to start in what you can expect at a normal business, but non-profit groups expect you to take less. Good Luck.
