i live in northern virginia, and ive been wanting to be an actress my whole life.
i was told the best way to do so is get an agent, and i know it's not easy.
i was wondering if anybody know's some good agencies to recommend?|||Agents come later, after you've gotten some experience. Fortunately, Northern Virginia is full of theatrical opportunities.

If you have no experience outside school, you will probably want to look at community theatres in the area. Here are a bunch of links: http://www.nvtaweb.org/nvta-members/

If you have some experience in community theatre and are looking to move forward with your career, there are also a number of professional theatres in the area. Most of them are affiliated with the Helen Hayes Awards - here's a link of HHA theatres: http://www.helenhayes.org/sub/di.cfm

There are also many opportunities to learn the craft of acting in Northern Virginia and DC. Many of the professional theatres offer acting courses; you can also check into Theatre Lab in DC: http://www.theatrelab.org/

There are a few agencies in the DC Metro area, but they are not going to be interested in representing you until you have some experience to offer.

Good luck! You're in a great area to get started!|||If you are looking to get on community theatres in Northern Virginia, you can check out the Reston Players, the Elden Street Players, the Leesburg Theatre Company, Northern Virginia Community College (Loudoun/Sterling Campus) has the Community College Theatre - it's half community theatre, half college students. You can also check out Franklin Park Performing Arts Center in Purcellville (In Loudoun). For some actual training, and not just production opportunities, Reston Community Center runs a camp called Young Actors Theatre - they do shows in different age groups every summer (part of a summer camp) as well as in the fall/winter and winter/spring during the school year!|||Agents come later, after you've gotten some experience.
