I am looking to buy a sword from an online retailer, and I have googled this question, but can not find any information on sword laws in Virginia. If anyone has a link to this information or can help me with this, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.|||Fine to "own" it. What you do with it while owning it is quite another question but there are thousands of retirned military officers in VA that own swords.|||Yes, as long as the "sword" (if it is really a sword, not a switchblade, dirk, bowie knife, etc.) doesn't fall under the prohibited weapons in the "concealed weapons" code section in the Va. Code (or just don't carry it concealed). Google "Virginia concealed weapons law" or "knives" or "Code of Virginia" for additional information.|||Quite often the retailer will know if it's legal or not. Not always, and sometimes they'll lie to you in order to make a sale.
Sometimes it's legal to own a "blank" sword, which doesn't have a sharpened edge, and illegal to own a "live" sword, which does have a sharpened edge.|||CONTACT YOUR GOVERNOR.......
AS LONG AS IT'S NOT FOR HARMFUL INTENT, IT SHOULD BE OKAY,
ASK THE MAYOR, SHERIFF, OR THE LOCAL JUDGE.
