I was walking outside the other day and went to the side of my house and in between my house and my neighbors house was this little snake maybe a little less than 8 or 9 inches was coiled up and hissing and when i went near it to scare it away it attacked it didnt bite me but it scared the **** out of me im just wondering are there alot of poisonous snakes in northern virginia and do all snakes have fangs even the harmelss ones and do they all coil up like that?|||Here is a list of all snakes native to VA. http://fwie.fw.vt.edu/VHS/reptiles/snake鈥?/a>
My knowledge is that Copperheads and Rattlers are the most dangerous. My mother always warned me about them.|||There are actually only 4 types of poisonous snakes in North America: Water Moccasins, Copperheads, Rattlesnakes, and Coral Snakes. The first 3's venom attacks the blood and the Coral Snake's venom attacks the nervous system.

That leaves the timber rattler and the copperhead. Chances are that it was neither of these. Even the non-venomous snakes will bluff. It worked, didn't it?
