We usually travel by way of Charleston, West Virginia, and the newer highways, but we plan to go back in late Sept to show new family member the fall leaves. I Notice the eastern part of the state (pocahontas) county starts to change in late Sept. What road do we get on in Virginia to enter Pocahontas county, West Virginia? I know color display, is better in early Oct, but you take vacations when you can get them.
Thank you.|||Use Google Maps "get directions" function to plot a course from your location to a destination in Pocahontas county. Just about anywhere in WV is beautiful in the fall. I'm hoping to take a 3 day motorcycle trip into the Greenbank area in late August or September.

http://maps.google.com/|||You need to come to Fayette county. It's just south of Charleston. The road is called route 19.. Drive across the new river gorge bridge.. the view does NOT get any better than that.. it's absolutely gorgeous. Plus there is a really nice scenic overlook. I would say your best bet would be to map quest directions to it, though, because I don't really know where you're coming from, but I assure you that you will LOVE the view =).
I cant really find the best picture of the foliage around the bridge in the fall, but on this site there are some place in southern WV that aren't very far from the bridge that you can go to, and in the third row of the pictures you can see the bridge: http://images.google.com/imgres?imgurl=h鈥?/a>
