virginia: For Virginia residents - Can you please tell me the makes and models of scooters that are street legal - meaning you can ride them in traffic. I am not talking about the small scooters you can ride on sidewalks or on the side of the road. Also, for street legal scooters, do I have to have a motorcycle license or is a driver's license okay? Thanks for your help in advance.|||In Virginia, anything under 50cc you don't need a motorcycle endorsement. But remember, they will only max out at around 30-40 MPH. Get your motorcycle licence, its not that big a deal. Then get something with at least a 125cc engine. You will appreciate the extra power. Stay away from the Pep Boys scooters, they are infamous crap. Pep Boys is happy to sell them to you, but they won't service it. Don't buy anything on the internet. You really need to go to a dealer, sit on them and find the right scooter which fits you to a tee!. Your best bet is to stick to the brand names. Honda, Yamaha, Vespa, Piaggio, Genuine, Aprilia,Kymco, E-Ton, TGB... If you are in Northern VA, you can check out Coleman Powersports in Falls Church and Woodbridge, Vespa Washington (in DC)..
