I want to surprise my girlfriend on saturday and she is in northern Virginia. Im just not sure how to drive straight through without stopping to sleep as i have work on monday and need to be back to Dallas.|||No Dox tablets. Energy drinks. CocaCola. Coffee. Take it ALL and loud music. I do suggest that you try to take a 45mins nap at a rest stop if possible it'll be safer for you to drive alertly and it may give you the energy you need to drive faster to make up for the lost time napping.
I know other people are going to tell you not to do this. But you are going to anywyay, so I'm just giving you the answer to the question you asked. I hope your girlfriend appreciates your sacrifice when you get there. And try not to fall asleep when you get back to work.
PLEASE be careful.|||i wouldn't suggest it at all. driving tired is the same as driving drunk. you risk falling asleep. a bus can get you there nearly same amount of time and a plane can get you there quicker with less risk so the money spent is worth it in the long run|||take your time and call in on monday so you have time to take breaks to sleep. you really shouldn't drive when you're tired.

but really, just fly there.|||I would suggest you take the train. It is probably not that much more expensive than the gas you will be using. You might even be able to fine a cheap flight into Dulles or National and rent a car.

If you insist on driving, see if a friend will come with you - that way, one can sleep, and the other can drive.|||I appreciate a good road trip as much as anyone, but this is one of those situations where it isn't worth it... Even if you get a solid 30 MPG and only spend $2.50 per gallon on gas (which is most likely a gross underestimate), the 2,658-mile round-trip drive will end up costing you $221.50 in gas alone, and that doesn't take into account wear on the car and tires, the oil change you'll need when you get back, etc.

A flight at this late notice will probably cost you at least $400, but the train could be well under $200.
