Ofcourse, Im way over 18, but was still offended none the less. So I decided to find out why, and started a discussion with the Amtrak agent. It went something like this..... Me: Why would you need to see my ID for a ticket, is this train R rated or something? Her: (chuckling) No, but after 9/11 and here of late, Amtrak is tightning security. Me: So you card everyone? Her: Yes. From 16 on up. No ID... No ticket. Me: 16? Her: Yes. 16 to 18 we ask for a parent to check in their child. Under 16 the child must be accomanied. Anything else I can help you with? As you can see the agent was informative and professional. Answering all my questions. I hope this answers yours. Dont forget Amtrak is bound by state and fed law. you may wanna check there too. Although they are not babysitters, Amtrak much like the airlines, are skeptical about transporting children across state lines especially.
