I am moving to rural Vermont in three weeks and am looking for a baby potbellied pig while I am still in North Carolina. The reason: a pig up north costs a lot more than a pig down south. I am willing to travel to Virginia or South Carolina (or any place within a 3 hour driving range). I am specifically looking for a baby pig. Does anyone know of any breeders or where I can find a list of breeders for this area? Thank you in advance!|||http://www.gomestic.com/Pets/Unusual-Pet鈥?/a>

beware NOT to buy ones called "TOY" pot belly pigs.. these are often ones stunted through poor nutrition or genetics.. and its freakish what happens to them..

at a point their outter body stops growing but their insides dont.. you soon have a biggy that has outgrown their body and will die or get very ill and require euthanisia.. this is saddly very common - stay away from these kind of breeders..

I am in Canada - we often have them for sale at odd and unusual Livestock auctions - ask at your local livestock feed store if they have them in your area... or they might know breeders

    3. Have earned a baccalaureate degree (with the exception of the Technical Professional License) from a regionally accredited institution of higher education and meet requirements for the license sought. A. All candidates who hold at least a baccalaureate degree from a regionally accredited college or university and who seek an initial Virginia teaching license must obtain passing scores on professional teacher's assessments prescribed by the Board of Education. With the exception of the career switcher program that requires assessments as prerequisites, individuals must complete the professional teacher鈥檚 assessments within the three-year validity of the initial provisional license. Candidates seeking a Technical Professional License, the International License, School Manager License, or the Pupil Personnel Services License are not required to take the professional teacher's assessments. What is the starting salary of an elementary school teacher in prince william county virginia? Does it depend on the grade? eg: 2nd grade gets paid more than 1st grade, etc.|||You have your pay scale WAY wrong. It has NOTHING to do with what grade you teach.

A teacher is payed by years and college tuition level.
If you have a Masters with increments you will get payed a lot more. It doesn't matter what your educated in, if you got the degree, you earn more..

I would assume you have a fresh Bach. degree. with no prior teacher experience. It would be roughly 30k in Clark County however our district is one of the worst. Don't expect too much.

Take care.|||It doesn't depend on grade. Salary is by district. If you google Prince William County School Division and go to human resources on the site you will find the salary.

I purchased a horse from Carvins Cove Stables in Salem Virginia that is not what it was advertised to be. This horse will end up getting someone hurt. I am persueing the Attorney Generals Consumer Protection law.|||If you have a copy of the add and a sales contract you should stand a pretty good chance of getting your money back provided you haven't had the horse that long and can prove that they misrepresented the horse.|||I think your case would depend on what type of representation they made to you. Was it in writing, or verbal. obviously.. if you have something in writing and can prove that this was not true, you may be able to win in court, but these cases often come down to one person's word against another's. If you could prove the horse had been medicated when you were shown the horse to mask problems, that could help your case too. What exactly were you told and what is the case now. Unfortunately, they could argue that you caused this problem.. and that it is new and they didn't experience it. Hard to prove otherwise depending on what is wrong. More detail would help here.|||Can you take the horse back and get your money?

  • Should I hunt open fields or what is the best way to hunt in the snow? I am hunting whitetail in central virginia.|||Legend I do take photos of deer....of course they're hanging upside down being prepared for a nice tender loin steak that night....but any ways.....
You really should have done some scouting prior to the season. Deer will travel the same path in snow as they do the rest of the time. Scouting would have given you a good trail to set up on.|||I always feel lucky when I am able to deer hunt in the snow. If it has been on the ground for a day or two, you can easily find deer paths if you are not familiar with the area. Set up near one of those. When it is cold and snowy, deer need more food, so setting up near food sources, which may be limited with snow on the ground, is good too. Thing are much quieter in the snow and deer are much more noticeable in heavy cover.|||Legend.... funny attitudes. Game meat makes up almost 90% of the meat I consume (on a good year.)
Do you wait til you're starving to order a steak??

Snow is my favorite time to hunt! Never hunted Virginia so I don't know about your specific area.
I prefer to look for dead fresh tracks during a snowstorm and track them til I find them. Most places I hunt the animals aren't out in the open during the day, so I'm pretty much still hunting in the woods.|||I don't know what kind of terrain you have, but here in PA there's lots of mountains, hills, and valleys. Rockefeller's - seafood: Always a wait to get a table, but worth it! It's located at the southern part of the Oceanfront. $15 & up / person. [ http://www.rockafellers.com/ ]

Azar's - Mediterranean: Great place for anything from a quick falafel wrap or gyro to full-out four-course dinners. Two locations, the one in Virginia Beach has a small market attached - great for wine and cheese. $7 & up / person. [ http://www.azarfoods.com/ ]

501 City Grille - American: One side is a traditional dining room, the other a classy pub-style bar with live music regularly. May have the best fish tacos in the region. $13 & up / person.

Once you get here, pick up a PortFolio Weekly, the local alternative paper [ http://www.portfolioweekly.com/ME2/Defau鈥?/a> ] - has a pretty good listing of local places to eat, plus concerts, clubs, events, and news.

Best of luck, you'll love it here!|||Virginia Beach has a wide variety of places to eat. It all depends on what you want and price. Virginia Beach has a plethora of the usual "chain" restaurants like Olive Garden (Lynnhaven), Ruby Tuesdays (Pembroke), PF Changs and Cheesecake Factory (Pembroke), Golden Corral (Independence Road).

If you want a place to eat some really good ribs, I would recommend Frankies located in Fairfield section. If you like Indian food, I would recommend Nawab off Laskin Road or the one located in Norfolk in the Military Circle Shopping Center or Spice of India in Greenbrier in Chesapeake. The home we are looking at has possible mold and or mildew, plus other insulation and venting problems. What are the laws concening these issues in Virginia?|||If the home you are looking at has these issues, there is no legal onus that it must be repaired or fixed by the seller before you purchase; the only exception is if the home is condemned by the county for being a health hazard based on an exceptionally high mold or mildew count.
If it's disclosed then it's buyer beware.
If it isn't and you find this out through the inspection process, then you will have to cite that issue and modify the sales contract accordingly to assure the problem is fixed. The final inspection after the repair will determine that set of facts.
Since you have not purchased the home yet, and it is not clear from your question if the mold and mildew issue has been properly disclosed, it is hard to know what law would apply.
The law requires that the sales contract be honored, and part of that deals with repairs if it is added to the contract.
Yet I know of no specific "mold and mildew" laws on the federal or state books, that are related to the sale of real property.
Good Luck.|||Be sure your contract is contingent upon a mold inspection. Have the mold swabbed and an air sample taken and sent out to a lab for testing. Chances are it can be easily cleaned with bleach, but beware of stachybatris (misspelled I know, it's the toxic black mold. If toxic mold is present, your contingency will get you out of the contract. Good luck. By the way, why are you buying a home you know has so many problems? Yikes!|||Per law, the seller has to make full disclosure of such damage. Such damage in the house can make the collateral of the property sub-standard and/or yield a lower value to the loan amt and it would be difficult for you to complete the financing per the purchase price. Also, this is the kind of thing that also get's the city involved esp. if you plan to lease the property out as you would not be able to get an occupany permit until the repairs are made and the hse passes inspection.

So....if you are still keen on the hse, get an inspection and a quote of cost to cure and try and negotiate a new lower price. Provide the quote to a bank and see if they will provide financing for thr purchase and repairs. Rule of thumb is that the cost to cure should not exceed 15-20%....

It has always been a dream of mine to play college football. I have never played football before but have played soccer my entire life, I even played for the college I previously attended. Single military are normally provided quarters on the military base in which they are assigned. Since he is not married this would place him in this category.

Married military are normally offered off base quarters if on-base quarters are not available.

Web sites are a good place to find an apartment or house to rent, if you want to go through the entire list to find one in your state and then city.

The best place to look for places to rent is to go to the yellow pages of your telephone book, look under property managers.

These individuals list properties for rent in certain areas, so make sure you select the areas in which you wish to rent.

Call several of the property managers listed there, tell them you want a list of properties that they have for rent. Some will fax, email or mail the list of local places to rent along with the address, number of bedrooms and bath rooms, amenities available, such as washer and dryers or gyms, the monthly rental of the unit. Most will include a rental application. These list will include the monthly rental required, if a lease or month to month agreement will be signed. They will also indicate if they will accept Section 8 vouchers. They will also indicate it they have disabled access, allow pets and if so the type allowed.

They might indicate a web site that you might visit to get their list of places to rent. It does not cost to get a rental list from a reputable property manager.

Some will require you to stop by their office and pick up the list. A lot of them post their list outside so the list are available 24/7 365.

Make sure you don't fall for the scams and purchase a list as 70%-80% of these list are composed of free list they have compiled. They are not the property managers of any property in most instances.

You might also google Property managers in whatever city or community you want to live in and see what comes up. Again do not pay for this information as it is free from reliable property managers.

I hope this has been of some benefit to you, good luck.

We were able to hold it up to the light and figure out 3 of the 4 items, but the 4th has us baffled. I was searching my genealogy files and found my great-great-grandfather, Charles Leinewebber was a Prussian and moved to Virginia around the late 1800's. What is that called?|||Germany became one country in 1871 & that included Prussia. My grandfather was proud of being Prussian but since he was born after the unification, he formally became German. His papers say "Germany" & his parents were from Germany & all spoke German.

Therefore, your GG Grandfather was German. The area he came from was formerly called Prussia. There was Eastern Prussia & Western Prussia. It would be like "New England States" in the USA; just an area within Germany.
My grandfather was from an area called Selesia which was divided into upper & lower partitions so tecnichnically, he was born in the town of Guttentag, Ober (upper) Selesia, Germany (formerly within Prussia).|||If your gg grandfather was born in Prussia, he was Prussian unless when he migrated to the US he became a US citizen, in which case his Nationality would have been American and his ethnicity Prussian. Prussia is now part of Germany, although people born in what was Prussia would generally not have wanted to be called German.|||Emigration, when people back home in Prussia talk about it.
Immigration, when the Virginians talk about it.

People did it all the time. All the white people have Immigrant ancestors. All the black ones do too, although most didn't have any say in the matter. Even the Indians came here from Asia, 10 - 20 thousand years ago.

I would also think that if it was possible, you would be getting tons of mail offering the class. When I got a ticket in Florida, I received no less than 20 "offers" within a week of the ticket. |||Whenever ownership of an automobile changes, Virginia assesses a 3% motor vehicle sales and use tax, with a floor of 35.00. It didn't used to be this way, but governor Baililes got the tax passed. Originally, it was 2%, but in 1999, the Virginia assembly raised the tax to 3%. No matter how many times you buy an auto during the course of a year, you pay the tax.

Unless exempted under Va. Code 搂 58.1-2403, Virginia levys a 3% Motor Vehicle Sales and Use Tax based on the vehicle's gross sales price or $35, whichever is greater. This tax is collected at the time of titling whenever a vehicle is sold and/or ownership of the motor vehicle changes. If you are exempt from the motor vehicle sales and use tax, as provided by statute 搂 58.1-2403, bring proof of your exemption status or complete the Purchaser's Statement of Tax Exemption (SUT3) indicating the reason for exemption.

For the purposes of the Motor Vehicle Sales and Use Tax collection, gross sales price includes the dealer processing fee. The gross sales price is the vehicle price after the manufacturers' discounts or dealer price discounts. Gross sales price does not include any other price reductions, such as credit for trade-ins, rebates, unpaid liens or other unpaid credits.

If you are titling your vehicle in Virginia for the first time and you hold a valid assignable title or registration issued in your name by another state or a branch of the United States Armed Forces, you will not have to pay the Motor Vehicle Sales and Use Tax. However, if you purchased the vehicle within the preceding 12 months, you must provide proof that the sales and use tax was paid elsewhere in order to be exempt in Virginia.

For a transaction between private individuals, the minimum Motor Vehicle Sales and Use Tax is calculated based on the trade-in value given in the NADA Official Used Car Guide. You must present either an Affidavit for Procurement of Title (SUT-1A) if the vehicle is 5 years old or newer (based on the model year) or a Bill of Sale if the vehicle is more than 5 years old. (The sale price placed on a title certificate by the seller is the equivalent of a bill of sale.) A bill of sale must be signed by both the seller and the buyer to include the full vehicle description, vehicle identification number and date of sale.

I'm 16 and of course I'm at that age of trying to figure out what I want to do with my life. I was interested in nursing and I was just curious about it. So I was wondering how much make they make a year, in West Virginia, and is it a good good career. Is it fun, interesting, and if ya like it, why or why not. Thanks for your time!|||West Virginia is tricky and so is nursing. It depends where in the state you are willing to work and what type of nursing you want to go into. I believe that a lot of LPN's range from 12-15 bucks and hour. RN's range anywhere from 36,000 - 75,000 depending on where you are going to work, whether it is the private sector, the state or a hospital. If you like working with people and like helping them out, its a great field. Know what you are getting into, tho. Try to shadow one at a local hospital or nursing home. The best part about nursing is there are so many things you can do...even office work. A lot of insurance companies hire nurses to work for them as well. AND in this down turn of the economy or whatever happens in the future...you HAVE to have medical staff...so there will always be a demand for nurses. Good luck in your future!

Virginia gets an earthquake every six years but i honestly dont know.|||2-3 per year are registered by the National Earthquake Center. They have to be above a lower threshold to be so registered; microquakes all the way down to the footfalls of horses are, of course, everywhere and all the time.|||my understanding is that it is well below one per year for greater than around 4 on the richter scale. somewhere around 1 every 15 years or so on average. the largest ever recorded was the same size as the one that just happened, around a 5.9 back in 1890 something. I am talking earthquakes that actually happen in Virginia, not happened outside Virginia but felt in Virginia. Up here near the New England-Quebec border, I feel one about every 4 years on average (6 over 22 years that I have lived up here). I felt that one yesterday. like a rocking boat. Virginia's earthquake activity is a lot lower than up here.|||I have been watching the news and from people's reactions who live in Virginia, they are extreamly shocked. Hi,

I was wondering if someone can please help me locate them here cin northern virginia.

Thanks|||Well, if you have the time, you might want to just look around for a local farm that raises chickens. The farmers in my area just love it when the locals take an interest in their farm and their animals.

Another option that you could consider is talking some other people that might be interested in chicks as well. One person might want five for a little backyard flock. Another might want to start a little side business selling extra eggs and want 10. Another parent might want their child to have a chick as well and there goes 2 or 3 more. I believe that i would be worth your time, that way you can pick and choose what breed you would like.

Best of luck to you!|||Look in the Washington Post Classified for Birds or just check a local little farm that's happy to give away a couple chicks or just charge a couple of dollars for each one. Or abduct a chicken. :)|||If you have any local feed stores (especially your smaller ones) try asking around there. They may be able to tell you someone who raises them locally. My husband and I are moving to Virginia, we live in California. We are driving all the way there and would like to find something and some places to see . Where and what can we see on the way ? Be specific|||Wow, is there any room in here for me? If I drove across the country, it would take a year. I'd visit every national park and every national monument in the south. I'd stay away from every big city, really relax, and go see the good 'ol USA.

Here's a link to the parks...

http://www.nps.gov/|||You have many choices of routes between CA and VA, but consider visiting New Orleans.

NOLA is one of the world's special places with an ambience unique in North America, and remains so even after Katrina devastated it in 2005.

Katrina flooded about 80% of New Orleans with salt water, and the water stayed for almost a month. Much of the city is still struggling to recover and all you have to do to see devastation is drive around. It will take years for NOLA to fully recover from Katrina.

However, the parts of the city that tourists usually visit were not flooded. It's not a coincidence - the French Quarter and other old parts of the city were built on relatively high ground and only suffered wind damage from Katrina. Almost all of the damage has been repaired and you have to look closely in the FQ and city center to see that Katrina happened at all. You should visit and see for yourself.

Note that the City of New Orleans is only part of the greater New Orleans area. The GNO area had a population of about 1,400,000 before Katrina and is estimated at about 1,200,000 now (July, 2007). The absent 200,000 are mostly from the City of New Orleans and the parishes of Plaquemines and Saint Bernard, which were the worst-flooded parts of the metro area. Jefferson Parish - juast to the west of the City - suffered relatively minor flooding and has fully recovered.

You can drink the water, the electricity & phones work, and services like the post office, hospitals, schools, and police/fire/EMS are operating. Restaurants, stores and shopping centers are open.

Municipal services like street cleaning & trash collection collapsed after Katrina. Those services were fully restored in late 2006 and it is no longer an issue.

I recommend staying in the French Quarter (Vieux Carre") if you can. There is a very wide range of selections available, from moderate guest houses to very exclusive "boutique" hotels. Search Yahoo Travel and Travelocity for ideas and also check the hotel websites. Go to www.frenchquarterhotels.com for some non-chain hotels.

A very inexpensive option for students and international visitors is the India House hostel: http://www.indiahousehostel.com/

You don't need a car to get around in the French Quarter, Central Business District, or Warehouse District. Also, the parking regulations are Byzantine and there are lots of Parking Control Agents. If you drive or rent a car, leave it in a lot or garage unless you are traveling away from downtown.

The regional transit authority (www.norta.com) sells 1 and 3 day passes that offer unlimited use of buses and streetcars for the day(s) you select. There are also lots of taxicabs.
Regarding crime, use the same common sense necessary in every major city in the world and there is little chance you will be a victim of anything except a need to visit the gym.

New Orleans has mild weather from late October to early May and the city stays green all year most years (rarely freezes and almost never snows). We pay for the mild winters with hot, humid summers 鈥?particularly in July & August. Just wear light, cotton clothes and take it easy during the afternoon. The good news for summertime visitors is that hotel rates are lower.

    Things to do:

Mardi Gras and the Jazz Festival are world famous events, but New Orleans hosts many festivals and celebrations throughout the year: http://www.nola.com/festivals/

There are many sightseeing opportunities in the greater New Orleans area, including carriage rides/tours, plantation tours, swamp tours, ghost tours, and even Katrina disaster tours. The steamboat Natchez also does a harbor tour. There are numerous tour companies and your hotel can help with the arrangements. Try to avoid scheduling an outdoor tour until you know the weather forecast for the day in question.

The Saint Charles Streetcar is the oldest continuously operating street railway in the world and is a "tourist attraction" in its own right. It is part of the public transit system, as are the Canal Street and Riverfront streetcar lines: http://www.norta.com/

There is always music, but the bands change: Go to www.bestofneworleans.com and click on Music then Listings or to www.offbeat.com and click on Listings, then Music.

Note that music clubs often advertise "No Cover", meaning there is no charge for entering. However, clubs with "No Cover" often require that customers buy a beverage each for every "set " of music (which can be every 20 minutes) so KNOW THE PRICE before you sit down. Clubs do that because some people will sit in the club all evening drinking nothing (clubs only make money from the drinks they sell - not from the music). It is also a good idea to pay for each round of drinks (in clubs on Bourbon Street) as it is delivered so there can't be any confusion at the end of the evening.

About certain alcoholic beverages: Realize that some famous drinks are VERY potent compared with regular cocktails that have only 1 to 1 陆 ounces of alcohol. For example, a Hurricane is basically 3 or 4 ounces of rum in something like red Kool-Aid, and a Hand Grenade has at least 4 陆 ounces of Everclear + rum + vodka mixed with melon liquor. They don鈥檛 necessarily taste like an alcoholic beverage and it is easy to over-indulge.

Wander around the French Quarter, enjoy the architecture, watch the street entertainers (do tip), and visit some of the historic buildings that have been turned into museums (go to www.frenchquarter.com and click on Historic Attractions).

Assuming the weather is good, you can collect a sandwich lunch and eat in the riverfront park (watch the shipping) or in Jackson Square (a very nice park).

The Riverwalk shopping center has an air-conditioned food court with dining overlooking the river (www.riverwalkmarketplace.com). The Canal Place shopping center is in the French Quarter and has a cinema and higher-end shopping (Saks 5th Avenue, Brooks Brothers, etc.)

The lobby for the Westin Canal Place Hotel is on the 11th floor and overlooks the French Quarter. It is a great place for an afternoon drink/snack:(www.westin.com).

Cafe du Monde is in the French Quarter and you shouldn't miss having cafe au lait & beignets (www.cafedumonde.com). Another great coffee shop is the Croissant d'Or (at 615 Ursulines Street), which is open from 7:00am to 2:00pm and has food in addition to pastry.

The Palm Court restaurant is very nice, has moderate prices, and traditional live jazz starting at 8:00pm: 1204 Decatur Street, tel 504-525-0200 (reservations are important and they are not open every day). The Palm Court is closed from about July 25th to about September 25th each year.

Maximo's Italian Grill has great food and atmosphere: 1117 Decatur Street in the French Quarter, (504) 586-8883.

All of the famous restaurants (Antoine's, Arnaud's, Brennan's, Commander's Palace, etc.) have reopened. The Pelican Club (on Exchange Alley in the FQ) is not as well known but is the same type experience. Reservations are a good idea, and probably essential on weekends. Tujaques Restaurant (823 Decatur Street) is very traditional and has moderate prices: http://www.tujaguesrestaurant.com/

Cafe Degas is a very French restaurant near City Park at 3127 Esplanade - which is not within walking distance of downtown (5 to 10 minutes by taxi). They are closed on Mondays & Tuesdays (504-945-5635).

The Napoleon House restaurant is at 500 Chartres Street in the FQ, and has a menu of great local dishes: http://www.napoleonhouse.com/

Preservation Hall has traditional live Jazz, and doesn鈥檛 serve alcohol so all ages are welcome: http://www.preservationhall.com/

New Orleans has ballet, opera, a symphony orchestra, and theatre:

There is a free ferry across the Mississippi at the "foot" of Canal Street. It is a short trip but like a harbor cruise w/o a guide: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/canal_stree鈥?/a>

The Aquarium, Audubon Zoo, and the new Insectarium are world-class attractions (www.auduboninstitute.org) and you should see them if you can. The Zoo is several miles from downtown. You can drive to the Zoo (which has free parking) or take public transit from the French Quarter.

The Louisiana State Museum is in the French Quarter: http://lsm.crt.state.la.us/ New Orleans is also home to a number of other museums, such as the National World War II Museum (www.ddaymuseum.org) and the New Orleans Museum of Art (www.noma.org). Both can be reached by public transit: The WWII museum is in the central business district but a long walk from the French Quarter. NOMA is not within walking distance of downtown but has free parking. Go to http://www.neworleansmuseums.com/ for info on more museums.

Harrah鈥檚 Casino is in the Central Business District: http://www.harrahs.com/casinos/harrahs-n鈥?/a> (age 21 required for entry)

New Orleans City Park has a variety of attractions, including as amusement park with rides and attractions for children + free parking. City Park also presents "Celebration in the Oaks" from late November to early January: (www.neworleanscitypark.com).

Does Virginia have a obesity epidemic? I watched the shooting unfold and as the images came through my tv I could only see obese Americans all over the place, obese cops helping students, gluttonous students looking on etc.. Why is America so full of gluttons?|||Of all the things you could have been thinking on that day, obesity was what came to your mind?????

Let the flames begin.|||VT is in America.|||I have no idea, but your right people need to change their diets and exercise more often.|||Although this is slightly offensive, I guess I'll take the bait.

America has an obesity problem because of the need for instant gratification, and the long hours people have, as well as the number of children most people have. A lot of people don't have time for home cooked meals, or healthy meals in general.

I do feel that you're saying some very offensive things about the VTech victims, though, and I also think it's pretty offensive to say that America is full of gluttons.|||60% of America is obese because the food we eat is full of crap and we're too stubborn and ignorant to do anything about it.|||In America, bigger is better. Including waist size.|||Apparently, you don't know what the word glutton means. I know that you are just trying to ruffle people's feathers... but, in a sadly humorous way, you are showcasing your own ignorance.
In that way, your question is actually funny... although, given your ignorance, you probably don't get the joke.|||We Americans are too fat. That's the truth. I try and stay fit but it's hard and I could use losing a few more pounds. We have it too easy and most of us don't seem to have enough will power to avoid snacking.

I worked with an intern from the UK back in the late 90's and he said that they have very few drive-through's in England for one example. Maybe if we actually got out of our cars and walked into the bank or restaurant we might lose a few pounds.

They also don't have cup holders in vehicles from what he said, it is another American tradition to eat and drink while we drive.

So it's definitely an issue. Hopefully we're becoming more aware...|||I live in Va and I first have to say that I think it's incredibly rude and disgustingly offensive for you to even combine such things into one question. Second, there are obese people in all states. Obesity comes from people consuming large portions of prepared foods. If people would take more care into what they put into their bodies then the world wouldn't be so large.
MAY GOD BLESS THE VICTIMS AT V.T.|||What's wrong with being big? If they are happy and healthy; then why not. I don't people complaining about how big football players are.|||yes|||The students are like any others across America. The police, though, are trained at academies which instill a vigorous workout regiment and command presence. American officers work on their arms and keep them far apart to maintain a hulking, authoritative sight.|||Obese cop made me realise one thing. He was running with an automatic (Possible M16) rifle. Is american gun laws thaty bad that criminals carry the type of weapons that ordinary, fat donut munching cops need to carry machine guns to fight them? Shows that US gun laws suck. And I am a conservative voter. In Australia, only the equivalent to SWAT carry automatics, and break them out only if they really need them.

I know they changed something with the ages but im not sure|||If you're under 19 you must provide proof of successful completion of a state-approved driver education program and you must hold a learner's permit at least nine months before you can receive a driver's license.

Plus, your parent, guardian or foster parent must provide his or her driver's license or state-issued identification card number and sign the certificate to certify that you received at least 45 hours of driver practice, 15 of which must have been competed after sunset. Thanks !|||Theoretically, yes. A misdemeanor can stay on your record. However, most prospective employers don't pull down to that level except in for a sensitive position. VA is one of the rare states that allows this.|||The best way is with a lawyer to help you out. Can't afford a lawyer? Find one with a payment plan. I had earthquake insurance for several years with a well known company as part of a home owners' policy. Unfortunately, they have recently notified me that they are no longer going to cover residents of Virginia. I could change companies but, this is a hassle and I lose the discounts that I have earned over the years for not having filed a claim. Therefore I would like to find a policy that covers only earthquake damage. Thank you for your help with this matter. It is greatly appreciated.|||Well, ANY property carrier should be able to do it, but it's NOT going to be as cheap as it was on your homeowners policy.

So if your current policy is through an independent agent, ask them to get you a quote on stand-alone earthquake coverage. If it's through an Allstate, or State Farm, they likely won't be able to help you, as you're MOST likely looking at a surplus lines carrier.

SO. You'll need a referral from your current agent, to an independent that will be willing to help you.

Keep in mind, this policy will PROBABLY have a minimum premium of around $2500, with a 5% deductible. That's the cost to issue this type of policy. You were PROBABLY paying around $200 to $300 on your homeowners policy. There's a HUGE price difference. You REALLY might be better off moving the homeowners policy.|||If you qualify for a claims free discount with your current company, you'll qualify for a claims free discount with other companies. As much as it is a pain to switch Homeowner's insurer, the cost, time and hassle associated with trying to find someone who will issue a stand alone earthquake policy, let alone the cost of one if you can find someone, is far greater than switching to another insurer who will insure your home with earthquake coverage.

Narrow water. 35 hours up chanel. 6 days. is what I would plan. And pray for fair wind. If good wind all the way. 4 days. 14 against the wind all the way.|||5-10 days, depending on the weather.

Here's my reasoning. A translantic trip, such as by Columbus, took 1-2 months; depending on the weather. For about 3000 miles. The trip from Mass to Virginia is about 500 miles; or one-sixth of the way across the Atlantic. So, divide 30-60 days by six, and you get 5-10 days.

I need a free obituarie website from 1996-1997, and it has to be from west virginia. Please answer my boyfriend never saw his dad's obituarie.|||You can contact the local newspapers to see if they have it. If they do there will most likely be a small fee for a copy.

You can also contact the library. The have archives of newspapers where you can search for articles. Often it is on

My boyfriend did not have health insurance and was admitted to a Virginia hospital. He was in the Cardiac ICU for 15 hours and passed away. He did not have any surgery. The bill for the hospital is $62,000 and the doctor's bill is $6000. This is with no health insurance or Medicare. I am the executor of his estate and there is not enough money for these and it seems excessive for 15 hours. What recourse, if any, do I have?|||The nurses and the billing department run a hospital. The amount billed seems insane to me. I assume they thought it was an insurance case or government program so the payer was not a real person. I would ask for meeting to mitigate the amount of the bill to conform with the standards in the normal course of medical practice. I really cannot imagine the figure 62K but the medical community is so exalted by the public that you look like the bad guy as the executor. I would seek guidance from the Virginia equivalent of the Health Cost Review Authority that exists in my state. The State Health Dept. of Virginia should point you to some mediation board. I would like to think that the adminstrator of the hospital would compromise the bill. You could talk to a lawyer; but, I would talk with the hospital pressure point. It could be a nurse or the hospital administrator. I am certain that the doctor has little or no concern about your problem. I am not familar with a doctor who has a genuine interest in a patient. Your doctor here may be the exception but that is only 6K. You are talking about 68K total?|||If the Virgina Hospital is a Non-Profit they will not be able to sue on a civil court for profit for the surgery due to the Non-Profit status. Being the patient is the beneficiary of the charities and it's cause. As long as the executor is not rich they wouldn't be able to Non Charity the claim "lack of better word". Move anything away from debt collectors who may attempt to collect this money if you have that much. Anyway their not going to be able to sue, but will use all the traps to convince you to settle the debt. You may have to pay the doctor bill because that doesn't ably to the Non-Profit. No one has been able to solve/recourse the high cost of health care in the USA.

If anyone has a link to this information or can help me with this, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.|||Fine to "own" it. What you do with it while owning it is quite another question but there are thousands of retirned military officers in VA that own swords.|||Yes, as long as the "sword" (if it is really a sword, not a switchblade, dirk, bowie knife, etc.) doesn't fall under the prohibited weapons in the "concealed weapons" code section in the Va. Code (or just don't carry it concealed). My manager keeps withholding my time card until I perform certain tasks that I shouldn't be doing unless I'm on the clock. I'm ALLOWED to clock in if I finish. The company specifically forbids employees from working off the clock. I need to know if Virginia has a law that forbids Companies from forcing employees to work off the clock. or
(TTY) 1-866-315-NLRB (1-866-315-6572) for hearing impaired|||The deal in VA is that the moment you step in work you are clocked in. When you leave you clock out and leave the area.

The reason the company forbids otherwise is because of employee liabilty. If you say, fell who could take them for much as you were working off the clock.

If you kept a log or complained to whoever the government would cry foul. The company would face fines and they would be forced to fire this manager to avoid some of it. One company I know of had to spend $35K for a outside accountant that was certified by the state. Then they had to pay to track down past employees. Pay them and pay all current employees back wages. There is no company anymore.

Odds are HR would be very interested in this.

In VA it is utterly not allowed to have someone work off the clock. The manager is screwing around with his figures and bonus.|||Go right to your HR dept and immediately inform them of this situation. It is illegal in every state to make someone work off the clock. There is a liability issue the company has to adhere to. Also, if some of your duties include computer work then you must be clocked in before you can sign in. This manager needs a re-traning QUICK! This would be pro per (or pro se if it's spelled that way in Virginia)|||Most rules of civil procedure no longer refer to a demurer. Instead, the rules allow for a motion to dismiss for failure to state a claim, or, later, a motion for summary judgment. So, I would think that you do indeed have to study the Virginia civil procedure rules. In all likelihood if you file a demurer, it will be summarily denied as a fugitive pleading. How hard it is to write a motion to dismiss depends upon you, your education, your ability to write, your knowledge of the substantive law, etc. Yes, it must be formal, in the proper format for a motion. I read on some websites that the victims families are suing Virginia Tech. Is this right or just... From my perception, Virginia Tech feels the same way they do... so it seems like they are just tryin to make money off thier misfortunes.

What do you all think?|||True, some litigants just want to make money, however some want to make change.

    (See article link)

Who is responsible? Do FERPA laws contribute to danger? Could legally armed citizen have stopped murders? Who contributed to the environment that caused, encouraged, exacerbated this incident? Should Cho have been forced to have medical/psyc care? Should he have been removed from campus? How much security is on campus? What is the nature of that security? Did the University have the "Duty" to protect the students? Who did have the duty to protect the individuals?

Not all lawsuits are greedy. Some want to overturn dangerous policies.|||I agree with you, the school is no more at fault then I am and I live in NL, Canada. It isn't there fault a crazy person shot some people there. If it happend in the street, would they sue the street ?
Blessed Be, Jane|||I agree with you. we seem to be in a culture that says that if harm comes to you, you should be rewarded with money. Bad things are going to happen in our life. No agency, university or other institution can keep us safe at all times. We take chances everytime we leave the house.|||I don't think it's right the VT should be blamed for this. As unfortunate as it is, Virginia Tech DID try to circumvent the situation. When they found out how mentally unstable that loser was, they were actually gonna have him removed from the school, but fearing litigation from special interest groups like the ACLU and others, they feared the bad press and the lawsuits that would have come with so they aired on the side of discretion which was a bad gamble.

I think the ones who should be sued are the special interest groups who are looking to make a name for themselves and without their interference, this tragedy may not have happened. Groups like the NRA and the ACLU are to be blamed|||Any time that anything bad happens those involved want to sue someone to get money. They may say it's to hold that person or place responsible, but no, it's not. They get dollar signs in their eyes. It's ridiculous and they should be ashamed, all they are doing is using the tragedy to try and get rich. They are diminishing the deaths of the people who got killed and using it as a get rich quick scheme.|||They should be filing lawsuits against the police who didn't do anything for two hours after the shooting. Let that person, pay for the rest of his life, with 33 families to feed.|||Now that's uncalled for. In their sorrow for their lost of their loved ones, they can let it rest. V.T. had no control over Fate, Circumstances. The love of the money is the root of all evil.|||I think it's ridiculous. It's a freak accident that could have happened anywhere anytime.|||There definitely needs to be a serious inquiry on everything that happened on that tragic day. Many people across the nation still have perplexing questions on this extremely sensitive matter. There were some signs of trouble from earlier reports. How does this school address red flag situations on their campus?

There are a lot of unanswered questions. I wish all the best for those grieving families and the VT Administrative governing board. May God be with you.

Can anyone please let me know what is good topic and have many back up informations to write about it? thanks!|||I would write on the influence of the State of Virginia or early American history. You can have several subcategories. Take for instance the first settlement (Jamestown), the first mystery (Roanoke), the first Presidents (George Washington, Thomas Jefferson), and the Civil War which has a few subjects of its own (Robert E. Lee, most of the major battles of the war, the Capital of the Confederacy was Richmond, and the place where Lee surrendered). Virginia is rich in history, so use it to your advantage.|||Write about Thomas Jefferson. He was a great writer and a Virginian. Pay close attention to his negative media campaigns against people he didn't like. The political banter started long ago!|||I had to write a similar short essay on Virginia. I chose Captain John Smith, their is a lot of interesting information to expand on.|||How about the Civil war, or soldiers who fought in the war from Virginia? i.e; Robert E. Lee for example.|||How about the Civil War and how General Jackson and General Lee were both from VA and though I am a northerner they fought with great distinction to defend their way of life and VA.

I do not agree with Slavery but I do admire those two men even if they were on the confederate side. they were very great tactical geniuses often beating superior forces with grit and determination.

For example, if it says only a doctor can prescribe any kind of medication for the treatment of disease and then you turn around and prescribe some Willard Water (holistic water from Tonopah, Nevada) for gout then you could be tried for practicing medicine without a license.|||Practicing unlicensed medicine is a felony crime in Virginia.

Also, don't overlook Roanoke and the lovely Shenandoah valley towns along I-81...Staunton, Lexington, Harrisburg, Natural Bridge, New Market...etc..or go to Luray Caverns or drive up in the Blue Ridge mountains on skyline drive....in another month the leaves turn as well and it's very pretty.

    ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS - FIRST YEAR
In reading applications for admission to the first-year class, we value intellectual ability, academic achievement, and personal qualities that would contribute to the University community. In particular, we focus on the following credentials:

Excellent performance in a rigorous secondary-school program, including at least four units of English, four of college-preparatory mathematics, two of foreign language, one of social science, and two of science (from among biology, chemistry, and physics; engineering applicants must take three units of science, including physics. These are minimum requirements; since most successful applicants exceed them, we recommend that candidates take the most rigorous academic program available in their school, including at least five academic courses each year and AP, IB, and honors courses whenever possible.
Results from the SAT I or the ACT (including the writing portion). We use the highest score on each part of the SAT I and the highest composite score on the ACT.
We strongly recommend results from two SAT II Subject Tests in any subjects of your choice.
Recommendations from the high school, from the guidance or college counselor and one teacher. We prefer recommendations be submitted online through the Common Application website, not mailed separately to the Office of Admission.
Completed application. The Common Application consists of several parts; the Basic Application, the U.Va. Supplement to the Common Application, School and Transcript Report, and Mid-Year Grade Report. We recommend that candidates submit it as soon as possible in the fall of their senior year.

I need to write a 5 page cause and effect research paper for my english class and I'm going to do it on the Virginia Tech Massacre. I don't know whether to format it with 3 effects or 3 causes or both cause and effect. How should I format the subject into paragraphs? Pleeeease help me ASAP. Many, many thanks in advance!|||It depends on what your explanation will be. If you have three separate causes that created three separate and unique effects, then go with that method. Be careful though, because it could look too much like a “shotgun” approach (when you try to cover everything but you end up covering nothing in depth). I think for this particular essay, you should thoroughly explore one cause and its effects, or multiple causes that created one effect. I think the more you can focus your essay, the better it will be.
The best essays are when you thoroughly and completely analyze a topic and explain how your evidence supports your thesis, rather than just throwing out a bunch of facts that kindda sortta might support your thesis, but lack analysis.

I may be moving to West Virginia because my fiance may be getting transferred there. I live in texas right now and am going to school to be a graphic designer. I get loans and grants right now and I was wondering if all my school stuff will transfer, or if I will have to start all over because it's in another state. Also, is West Virginia a nice area? I want to see pictures and know if this is a place where I'd really want to live. I would love a change and would love to go, but I need to find this stuff out first. Please if you know anything, help!|||Yes, West Virginia is a great area with really nice folks. I am not sure if you have a particular area you are looking at or are interested in but anywhere along the Ohio River is nice. Cities away from the mountains I would recommend include Parkersburg, Clarksburg, and Huntington. The capitol of Charleston is nice as well if you don't mind the heavy traffic of I-77, 79, and 64 which split the city. As for the mountains Elkins and Lewisburg are pretty nice, Elkins is actually under major renovation right now, they are really working to improve the downtown area. The fastest growing area in the state is the Eastern Panhandle, and all of the towns over there are nice, such as Berkeley Springs, Martinsburg, Romney, and Petersburg.

Keep in mind, except for Parkersburg, Huntington, and Charleston, all of these towns have under 30,000 residents so I hope you do not mind the slower-paced lifestyle because that's sort of West Virginia in a nutshell. It's a beautiful state, a very laid back and relaxing place to live, but if you are used to the city lifestyle you probably will not like it all that well unless you live in the Charleston/St. Albans/Huntington area (that is pretty much the "metro" area of the state). Now, Morgantown is, of course, home to WVU and can be crowded during sporting events, and continues to grow, but it too fits into the "under 30,000" category. In any event, if I can be of further help don't hesitate to send an e-mail my way and I'll be happy to answer any other questions you may have. Best of luck to you on your move!|||Do a web search on West Virginia.

Check your local ordinances and regulations for the lake and community where you plan to sink structure. Some structure is necessary, and usually improves fishing, but too much can "choke" a body of water by creating too much plant life in the water, so it is regulated in places. As far as consequences, they can be even more far-reaching, ranging from self-guilt to whatever civil penalties as may be requested by the victim and awarded by a civil court. While in Criminal Court, the defendant must be proven to be guilty beyond a reasonable doubt, Civil Courts require only a preponderance of the evidence. I want to surprise my girlfriend on saturday and she is in northern Virginia. Im just not sure how to drive straight through without stopping to sleep as i have work on monday and need to be back to Dallas.|||No Dox tablets. Energy drinks. CocaCola. Coffee. Take it ALL and loud music. I do suggest that you try to take a 45mins nap at a rest stop if possible it'll be safer for you to drive alertly and it may give you the energy you need to drive faster to make up for the lost time napping.
I know other people are going to tell you not to do this. But you are going to anywyay, so I'm just giving you the answer to the question you asked. I hope your girlfriend appreciates your sacrifice when you get there. And try not to fall asleep when you get back to work.
PLEASE be careful.|||i wouldn't suggest it at all. driving tired is the same as driving drunk. you risk falling asleep. a bus can get you there nearly same amount of time and a plane can get you there quicker with less risk so the money spent is worth it in the long run|||take your time and call in on monday so you have time to take breaks to sleep. you really shouldn't drive when you're tired.

but really, just fly there.|||I would suggest you take the train. It is probably not that much more expensive than the gas you will be using. You might even be able to fine a cheap flight into Dulles or National and rent a car.

If you insist on driving, see if a friend will come with you - that way, one can sleep, and the other can drive.|||I appreciate a good road trip as much as anyone, but this is one of those situations where it isn't worth it... Even if you get a solid 30 MPG and only spend $2.50 per gallon on gas (which is most likely a gross underestimate), the 2,658-mile round-trip drive will end up costing you $221.50 in gas alone, and that doesn't take into account wear on the car and tires, the oil change you'll need when you get back, etc.

A flight at this late notice will probably cost you at least $400, but the train could be well under $200.
