I am going to get a yamaha virago star motorcycle. my first question is how hard is it to chop a bike yourself? but in case i start to feel unsure and want professionals to do it, where can I go, preferably in Virginia, to get it chopped? please, no smart as# comments. i only want real answers.|||Something to think about. Have you ever ridden a chopper? Choppers ride like a rock. They are VERY hard to handle any way but in a straight line. You can drop one very easily and it takes 2 to pick one up. The long front ends are hard on the frame and most frames have to be cut and modified to accept them. I've rode choppers and they suck! Most of them will not ride 2 people so your girlfriend can't ride with you.
I often wonder how many people buy a chopper, ride it once or twice, and then park them or sell them at a loss just to be rid of the monsters. Looks aren't everything.Consider these facts carefully before tearing up a good motorcycle. They make very expensive yard ornaments.|||If you haven't got the bike yet you should just buy a chopper or build one from scratch. Can you buy a rigid frame for a virago motor or are you going to build one? What about the wiring harness?you don't want a big bulky harness hanging from an old school chopper.Or can you wire it from scratch and make it look right? There's alot involved.Better think twice before you jump into it.Do you realize how much a good shop is going to charge you for something like this?lots and lots of bucks.
