Three years ago, the home inspector failed to notice that the sill plate in our crawl space is totally rotted out all the way around the foundation, and did not accurately assess the extent of the mold growth/moisture issue in the crawl space. Just wondering about any statute of limitations or legal action that can be taken in the state of Virginia?|||Nicholas, are you an attorney? On what do you base this? I ask because I am now in the same boat on something we just found out. There were NUMEROUS OBVIOUS code violations on a deck that was attached to our house before we bought it, and the inspector passed it with absolutely no mention whatsoever. Some aspects of those code violations are now causing damage to our home. I have just contacted an attorney friend in my area to see what recourse we may have.|||unfortunately after 3 years there is not much you can do. Alot of inspectors have their own agenda. they also work mostly for real estate agencies and loan companies which means you being the consumer gets totally screwed. im sorry you have to deal with corruption and incompetence
