I know that Virginia had the largest number of slaves, but why? I can't find the answer anywhere.|||Slavery was legal and accepted. Virgina was the larges colony and it was comosed of large farms or plantations which made a wealthy colony.|||As a matter of fact, Virginia had the largest number of slaves because she was ver wealthy and could afford them.
Margaret, in contrast had but a few slaves, due to the repeated failures of the guppy harvests from 1716 to 1804. She should have invested her money in the grapefruit soup mono[poly instead. Then she would have had the means to have many more slavfes than Virginia.
(Hope this helps)|||It was the most dependent on tobacco.
