I was just wondering how old a person should be to travel by themselves on a train in the state of Virginia.|||Children 15 and over may travel unaccompanied on Amtrak, also age 8-14 can travel unaccompanied with some restrictions. You can read the rules and regulations here... http://www.amtrak.com/servlet/ContentSer鈥?/a>
Hope they have a safe trip and an enjoy the experience!!|||Not too long ago I was carded when purchasing an Amtrak ticket. Ofcourse, Im way over 18, but was still offended none the less. So I decided to find out why, and started a discussion with the Amtrak agent. It went something like this.....
Me: Why would you need to see my ID for a ticket, is this train R rated or something?
Her: (chuckling) No, but after 9/11 and here of late, Amtrak is tightning security.
Me: So you card everyone?
Her: Yes. From 16 on up. No ID... No ticket.
Me: 16?
Her: Yes. 16 to 18 we ask for a parent to check in their child. Under 16 the child must be accomanied. Anything else I can help you with?
As you can see the agent was informative and professional. Answering all my questions. I hope this answers yours. Dont forget Amtrak is bound by state and fed law. you may wanna check there too.
Although they are not babysitters, Amtrak much like the airlines, are skeptical about transporting children across state lines especially. They will however make every effort to keep you safe.|||According to Amtrak, anyone 15 or older can travel alone.|||14 or 15
but if you hear banjo music . . . . . . . run
