I grew up in central Virginia. I always remembered seeing these pineapple looking graphics above people's front doors in colonial style homes. In Williamsburg you see them all the time. Prince George County's logo has this pineapple on it. My mom has this Old Virginia cookbook, that has the same pineapple design on the front. What is this thing? Pineapple's don't even grow here.|||Pineapples were a traditional symbol of hospitality. Back in England in the 1700s, when pineapples were first becoming known, a fruit dealer would buy one at great expense, then rent it out as a display item for parties, until it became too decomposed.
