I've inherited some property and on this property there is a family renting a home on the property. They want to paint inside, buy a closet organizer, just to name a few things. In the State of Virginia, what is my responsiblity to the tenants and what is their responsibilty?|||I believe in the state of Virginia you are responsible for the home being structurally sound, and all of the fixtures being functional and safe. (Electric, water, sewage, etc...) I know you would not be responsible for things such as closet organizers! As for the paint, you could benefit from them paintin! Most Va. landlords that allow painting stipulate permissable colors in the lease.
