The process to get on the ballot is onerous and changing them for future elections might make since but te=he current rules are not new and all candidates should have been aware of them.

By changing them are we giving candidates who couldn't meet the requirements a pass or are we giving the people of Virginia more options in the voting both?

Which is more important?|||Giving the voters a larger choice makes more sense. Frankly I'd be pissed if there are six candidates and only two made it on the ballot.|||More options.
If we consider that the onerous rules put in place years ago might benefit politicians over voters, then we must consider that it is time for voters to have more choices. For Virginia to now allow write in candidates is another problem. Their rules are very restrictive but, it should be a matter for legal voters in Virginia to decide.|||I think trying to change the rules at such a late date just shows poor judgement. I think if the rules really need to be changed they should wait til after the current process is over to make it fair for all candidates in this and future elections.|||Why have rules at all if you are just gonna change them to suit the candidates preferences anyway?|||more options = more freedom|||Ron Paul 2012
