What can you do in Virginia?? and not the beach its to cold now :/|||Well, what do you want to do?
Busch Gardens and Kings Dominion are still open. Also, the Virginia State Fair is still open. (Last weekend for it, though.)
There are many parks and museums open. If you are interested in science, the American Civil War, the Revolution, military history, art, clothing, et al. there is a museum for it. Every location has some type of park in it. In Richmond, I love sending people to Maymont Park because of the landscaping and artwork and exotic plants there. (All the niece and nephew want to do there is the petting zoo.) Go visit the homes of Presidents! Monticello (Jefferson), Mount Vernon (Washington), Ash Lawn (Monroe), and Montpelier (Madison). That list is not all inclusive. Visit Hollywood Cemetery in Richmond where Monroe, Tyler, and Davis are buried.
The mountains are a nice destination. We have had a horrible drought this year, so I don't know if the colors will be all that vivid. However, apples are in season. Go to an orchard and pick some apples and then can or cook them. There is this wonderful recipie for pork chops and apples... I gotta go see what my wife is cooking for dinner tonight! Also, a lot of the orchards are organizing events during this time.
It is October, and that means that a lot of the Halloween events are starting up. We used to hit something up every weekend for the longest time.
I hope that this helped.
Good luck!|||Go explore the mountains!
