I herd that if you have a vehicle registered in Virginia and it is over 100,000 miles that you don't have to have catolitic converters is this true?|||It's a catalytic converter, and you heard, not herd, which would be animals that are in a herd.

And no, it's not true. If VA, as in the other states, if it came with one from the factory it has to be there.|||This is absolutely not true. The only way you can legally NOT have a cat is if the car was manufactured without one. You can't even switch to a different cat BY FEDERAL LAW unless the original actually failed.|||I doubt it. Look at it logically. An older car puts off dirtier exhaust most of the time. The cat. helps deal with that. I can't tell you for certain, though, and it's a good question.|||No this is false, Catalytic converters may NEVER be removed from a vehicle so equipped EXCEPT after a certain mileage to be REPLACED. This is a federal law, they've changed the mileage a few times but they've certainly never said you can just take it off and forget about it.|||Catholic converters are known as Mormons.
